JJ, also known as John Shaft Jr., may be a cybersecurity expert with a bachelor’s degree at MIT, but to discover the truth behind his unexpected best friend’s death he needs a kind of help that only his father can provide. Although he has been absent for most of JJ’s childhood, John Shaft agrees to help his son investigate the heroin-infested streets of Harlem. Although the FBI plaque that JJ carries contrasts with his father’s “hard type” style, there is no doubt that they are father and son.
