In his Parisian studio, in 1964, the sculptor Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush) meets the art critic, James Lord (Armie Hammer), to make a portrait. What initially was to be a two-day work, becomes a long process over several weeks, due to the artist’s lack of discipline and inability to concentrate. And, this process of creation is interrupted by dinners, wine glasses or the visits of Caroline (Clémence Poésy), the lover of the sculptor to Annette’s desperation (Sylvie Testud), the quiet wife of the venerable and eccentric artist.
