Norval’s (Elijah Wood) life has been difficult. While he lives with his mother he goes in and out of alcohol-related rehab therapy with no apparent aim. One day she receives a letter from his father requesting a visit and she doesn’t think twice: she rushes to his house, convinced that meeting him will fill the emotional void she has felt since her adolescence. However, after a short time Norval begins to feel that there is something wrong with the attitude of his father, a inveterate addict to alcohol. The young boy soon realizes that his dream family reunion has turned into a path to a nightmare.
