A young couple and their friends travel to Hårga, located in Hälsingland, a province of Sweden, to visit the rural city of one of them and attend their summer solstice festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat descends rapidly in an increasingly violent and strange competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
